The Brookside Colony community consists of 147 homes. Most residents are homeowners while a few residents rent their home.

There is an annual Holiday Lighting Contest where residents vote on their favorite holiday lighting displays. Christmas carolling has also been included as part of this event.

The Social Committee, which is operated separately from the Brookside Colony Civic Association, has organized several neighborhood events including:

• Annual community garage sales,
• Ladies' Night Out events,
• Easter egg hunts, sometimes with a visit from the Easter bunny,
• Visits from Santa Claus who reads the classic story "The Night Before Christmas" and gives out Christmas gifts to all the good girls and boys in the neighborhood,
• Hayrides,
• Block parties,
• Progressive dinners,
• and more!
